ATHLETICS,
Grades 4-8
Nativity
School, Menlo Park offers an athletic program with a variety of
opportunities
for students. The Nativity Panthers
participate in baseball, basketball, volleyball, and track. Nativity belongs to the Peninsula Parochial
School League.
Nativity
School will soon be
undergoing a huge building project which will include a
state-of-the-art
multi-purpose facility to include a gymnasium.
ACADEMIC
DECATHLON, Grades 6-8
Our
middle school students are
selected to participate in the Academic Decathlon annually. The competition involves middle school
students from14 area Catholic Schools. In
2006, Nativity placed first in English,
first in Social Studies,
third in Fine Arts, third in the Logic Quiz and second in the Super
Quiz as
well as placing third overall. The
winning school advances to compete at the state level.
CHESS
CLUB, Grades 1-8
Know Chess!
Brings chess to 120 schools throughout the Bay Area weekly. The cost for an 18-week session is
$180. The fee includes weekly
instruction, tournament games, prizes, and insurance.
The chess classes are suited for any student
interested in chess,
from utter beginner to the more advanced student. Emphasis
is placed on the importance of sportsmanship, and the
enjoyment of the game.
CHOIR,
Grades 4-8
The
Nativity School Choir
practices twice monthly under the direction of our fourth grade teacher. The Choir performs at our monthly Family
Mass, First Holy Communion Mass, and other special events.
COMMUNITY
OUTREACH PROGRAM, Grades 6-8
Nativity
School is extremely active in serving our community.
The students help at St. Vincent de Paul,
Glenwood Inn, Haven
House, Family Connections, Clara Mateo Alliance, Ronald McDonald House,
Carlmont Nursing Home, Huddart Park, and Special Olympics.
Classes also
share in providing lunches for our senior citizen group at Church of
the
Nativity. Our Birthday Angel Program is
very successful in donating children’s birthday gifts to homeless
shelters in
the area.
SCOUT
TROOPS, Grades K-5
Nativity
School has hosted Boy
Scout troops and Girl Scout troops over the years.
STUDENT
COUNCIL, Grades 5-8
The
purpose of student council is to provide an opportunity
for student leadership
experience; promote pride in being a student of Nativity School;
encourage
everyone to be good Christian citizens; foster participation in service
to the
school and the community; and provide an open forum for the entire
student
body.
YEARBOOK
CLUB, Grades 4-8
Nativity
School publishes a K-8
yearbook. Students photograph events
and assist in creating through technology, the annual publication. The yearbook club is coordinated by our
computer teacher.
