Dear Parents of Third Graders,
“All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all
things wise and wonderful: the Lord, God made them all”.
We are off to a bright and beautiful start in Third Grade! We begin the
year with our Language Arts and Reading theme “Off to Adventure,” which
has gotten us thinking about our own great adventure of life. So the
first thing we do each day is to Thank God for our lives in prayer. Our
“Outing” stories, based on Mr. Gumpy’s Outing by John Birningham, have
been fun to write and to share with the class.
In Math, we are refreshing our minds with much review of number
concepts such as place value, estimating, comparing and rounding
numbers and using different strategies for problem solving.
Please go to the Math Alive at Home page for Chapter one on
www.sadlier-oxford.com under Third Grade Math. Here you will find
vocabulary and concepts we are covering in class. This website is
great for practicing basic facts and for reviewing concepts learned in
class.
Monday, September 20, we will begin our IOWA testing. Please make sure
your student has a good night sleep and a healthy breakfast before the
testing each day!
Today you will receive our first “Friday Folder” containing corrected
classwork, homework and quizzes or tests done in class. Your
student will be responsible for turning this folder back in on Monday
so please be sure to: RETURN THIS FOLDER ON MONDAY MORNING!
Our homeroom parents are working with me to plan some great outings and
celebrations for the students.
Thank you for all your wonderful support!
All the best,
Mrs. deLorimier
