Spelling:

    On Mondays, a lesson pretest is given.  The test is given without advance studying of the words so I can gain an insight as to what they know.  A spelling packet is assigned after pretest has been taken.  Packets,due on Thursday,  are corrected, collected and the final spelling test for the week is given. 

Students will be given sentence  dictation tests which will require them to write down the sentences that are given as well as place the appropriate end punctuation.The Sentences will be related to the spelling lesson for that week.  Sentence Dictations are given in addition to their regular spelling tests.

Reading:

Packets are given with each story.  Each student is expected to complete the packet.  This is part of the Reading Grade.  After the story has been read, reviewed, and  all elements discussed, the packet is collected and a test is given on the story. 

Book Reports will be required.  The dates will be given to students in plenty of time for them to read a book.  The book must be at least 100 pages in length.  Students are asked to have the book they wish to read for their book report approved by me prior to reading it. Various formats will be utilized.

Tests

Students will be given advance notice of academic tests.
