Required Winter Camping List
These items below are to be brought by
each student
Please make sure to consult the list
when packing for the trip.
Your safety and comfort depend
on your being fully equipped.
Required
equipment
- Hiking boots – Must be broken in and water proofed. (note:
when fitting the boots, they should be able to accommodate one pair of
wool socks and one pair of lightweight socks.)
- Tennis shoes
- Rain jacket with hood. (Gore-tex or nylon would be
preferable)
- 1-2 pairs of sweat pants
- 2-3 pair of jeans
- Combination of long and short sleeve shirts
- Sweatshirt(s)
- 2 pairs of wool socks (minimum)
- 4-5 pairs of cotton athletic socks
- Sleep clothes
- Wool or fleece mittens or gloves
- Wool or fleece hat
Personal Gear
- Zipper Thermometer
- Sleeping bag
- Garbage bag – for waterproofing gear
- Sunglasses
- 2 plastic water bottles – 1 liter size are preferable (minimum) (note:
make sure that the water bottles don’t leak)
- Flashlight – small and lightweight
- Chap stick and sunscreen (note: at least S.P.F 15 on
the sunscreen)
- Bandana – (this is a necessity for meals on the
trail everyday)
- Disposable or film camera (the students will be
creating a digital photo album when they get back to school.)
- Daypack – (mandatory) – for caring
personal and group gear on the day hikes.
Optional Equipment
- Pile jacket or wool sweater
- Ski packets or nylon pants – (this is for the cross
country skiing)
- Long underwear
- Camel Pack – (can be used to substitute for one of
the water bottles)
- Gaiters – (used for cross county skiing) - optional
