BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT: The faculty and
I are looking forward to seeing you this evening at Back-To-School
Night. It is mandatory that at least one parent
attend. There will be no child care available. Grades 1-4 6:45-7:15 p.m. Parents attend teacher presentation in classroom All Grades 1-8 7:15-8:00 p.m. All parents meet in Sobrato Pavilion for presentation by Principal Grades 5-8 8:00-8:30 p.m. Parents attend teacher presentation in classroom |
| 2. ROOM PARENT MEETING: On
September 23 at 7:00 p.m., there will be an important meeting for
Room Parents in the Library. Room Parents from each grade should plan to attend. |
| 3. NATIVITY SCHOOL AUCTION: It's
time to start preparing for this fabulous annual event. Please
read the enclosed flier for pertinent information. Special thanks
to our Co-Chairs Christina Umhofer and Lara Poncia for continuing this
tradition. |
| 4. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: We need one or two volunteers each Tuesday afternoon from 2:00-3:00 p.m. to help stuff the Wednesday communication envelope. If you are interested is assisting every Tuesday, please call the school office and leave a message. |
| 5. FATHER -DAUGHTER DANCE: Enclosed is a flier regarding the upcoming Father-Daughter Dance on October 16. |

GIRL SCOUTS: Would your daughter like to join a Girl
Scout troop at Nativity? There are currently Girl Scout troops in
grades 1, 6 and 7. If you are interested in learning more about
this opportunity for you and your daughter, or would consider starting
a new troop at Nativity, please contact Laura Claude at

| 7. CHESS (After School Enrichment): A
new company has emerged, Bay Area Chess, which provides after school
chess. They could provide instructors on Mondays here at Naivety
starting in October. If you are interested please fill out the
form below. |
| 8. CAPE (Council for American Private
Education): Fast Fact About Private Schools:
Seventeen percent of students in the class of 2009 who took the SAT
attended religious or independent schools, and those students outscored
their public school counterparts by significant margins. The
average SAT writing score for public school students was 487, compared
to 530 for students in religious schools and 555 for those in
independent schools. On the critical reading section of the test,
public school students had an average score of 496, religious school
students 533, and independent school students 550. Math scores
were 510 public, 533 religious, 578 independent. The report on
