Dear Parents:

"Lord, we come before You in thanksgiving for the gifts You have given.  The color of this season reminds     us of the beauty You alone can create.  We are thankful for the food You provide in the harvest. You have         filled the earth with Your gifts.  You have filled our world with good things.  We praise You and thank You         for Your presence in our lives."

1.  NO WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER NEXT WEEK:  Next Wednesday, November 25, is a 12:30 dismissal day and the day before our Thanksgiving break.  Tuition statements for December will be in the December 2 Wednesday envelope.

2.  PTG:  Coffee and treats will be served this Friday, November 20th, at Sobrato Pavilion, 7:45 a.m., compliments of your PTG Executive Board.  Please join us.

3. CUB SCOUT FOOD DRIVE:  2009 Holiday Food  Drive Under Way!  Help End Local Hunger -- Our Holiday Food Drive is in full swing and we need your help.  In these tough economic times we are seeing an unprecedented number of people seeking food assistance, some for the very first time.  Now more than ever our services are needed to ensure that those being negatively affected by the economic downturn and high food prices have access to the healthy food they need to feed themselves and their families.  We are working hard to meet the rise in requests for our services and need the help of our community to achieve our mission.

This week Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (Nov. 18-20) the Boy Scout Troop 222 is assisting with the 2009 Second Harvest Food Drive.  Most needed items are:  meals in a can (stew, chili, clam chowder, and soups),  peanut butter and jelly, 100% fruit juices or canned fruits, canned vegetables, tuna/canned meat, low-sugar cereal, and cans with pop top lids.  Please do not donate items packaged in glass or bulk quantities of rice, flour, or sugar.

If you would like to assist you will find the barrels at the end of the building near the black top.  If each child brings in one or two items this would result in several hundred pounds of food.  Thank you for your support in advance.

4.  HOLIDAY SOCK DRIVE:  The Fifth Grade is holding their annual Holiday Sock Drive to benefit the St. Vincent de Paul Homeless Centers along the Peninsula, November 23-December 4.  Please see the enclosed flier.

5.  FLU SEASON UPDATE:  Enclosed is the third in a series of bulletins for our school community.  We are hoping to provide information and suggestions on prevention.

6.  ADVENT WREATHS:  Help is needed to assemble Advent Wreaths on Friday, November 27, from 9:00-noon, at the Tree Lot on the school yard.  Please bring work gloves and hand clippers.  No experience is required.  Please sign up below.  The First Sunday of Advent is November 29.  Please call Mary Ann Boland, 814-2061, with any questions.

7.  DICKENS CAROLERS:  Talented young members of Dickens Carolers, Peninsula Youth Theatre's choral group, will treat us to a program of Dickens'-style caroling at our Christmas Tree Lot this year.  You will hear great traditional Christmas music as well new arrangements sure to get you in the holiday spirit!  This is a wonderful event for all family members.  Please come to the Nativity Tree Lot on Tuesday, December 1st, at 7:00 p.m. to hear this wonderful group that includes both past and present Nativity School students.
