Dear Parents:

Oh Dear!  No Christmas Tree Lot!  -  The children will starve . . . .

I jumped out of a sound sleep because of a most distressing dream.   We must have our annual Nativity Christmas Tree Lot.  It is the only way our students have new books, extra curriculum programs, and new computers!  What will we do?????   I know, I'll ask my parents. They will surely make it happen.  Finally, I returned to sleep.  The next morning I got to school and started my newsletter.  Surely, our Nativity parents will help!

1.  TREE LOT:  It is time to organize our annual Christmas Tree Lot fundraiser. We need Chairpeople!  Please contact Mrs. Trelut @ 325-7304.

2.  FACULTY NEWS:   It is with heartfelt sadness that I announce the retirement of Mrs. Jane Rende, our beloved second grade teacher for the past 12 years.    The students will honor Mrs. Rende at our morning assembly on Thursday, June 12, at 8 a.m.   I am pleased to announce that all other faculty members will be returning for the school year 2008-2009.

2.    SCHOOL MASS:  On Monday, May 12, at 9 a.m., K-8 will attend our monthly school Mass at Nativity Church.  Thank you Ms. Pacheco and our Grade 3 class for taking care of the readings and bringing up the gifts.  As always, parents are welcome to attend.

3.  CONSULTATIVE BOARD OF EDUCATION ELECTION:  The School Board members terms for Mrs. Anna Marie Porras and Mr. Greg Botto were up this year.  Mrs. Porras decided to run again.  Congratulations to our newly  elected Board members:  Anna Marie Porras and Cindy Coy.   We are very thankful to Mr. Botto for his years of service the the School Board.  We will welcome the new members at our final board meeting of the year, which will be held Wednesday, June, 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the Faculty Room.

4.  SPRING CONCERT UNDER THE SKY:  Our annual Spring Sing Concert will be held Tuesday, May 13, at 7 p.m. out on grass area between the blacktop and the play structure.  Bring your blankets and lawn chairs for an informal concert by grades 5-8.

5.   LAP-A-THON:   The excitement is building - the anticipation is growing!!  We are all looking forward to our annual Lap-A-Thon this Friday.  We are so grateful to GoRide Bicycles in Redwood City for donating our key raffle prize of a brand new bicycle.  We still need volunteers.  Parent volunteers should arrive at 8:00 a.m. and be ready to have fun and help!.  Sponsor sheets should be turned in by this time.  "Parents/relatives who would like to do laps with their children can bring a $25.00 donation check the day of the Lap-a-Thon."
On Friday, May 9, students should wear sunscreen, bring a hat if they want to, wear appropriate exercise clothes with a clean shirt or sweatshirt if they want to change or add warmth when finished and no open toes shoes-only athletic shoes.   Please note there is a prize substitution, water bottles will be replaced by a free dress pass.

6.   DEFICIENCY NOTICES:  Deficiency Notices will be given to those students in Grades 1-8 who may need to improve their grades in certain areas.  Deficiency Notices need to be signed by the parents and returned back to school.  Teachers are available to discuss any concerns you may have.  If you would like to make an appointment, please contact the teacher directly.
