Dear Parents:
1.  SCHOOL MASS:  Our school Mass was devoted to the Ascension of our Blessed Lord.  Grade 3 did an excellent job at the readings, and we thank all who shared this Mass with us.

2.  STUDENT COUNCIL:  The 2010-2011 Student Council election campaign is officially underway! Students handed in their initial packets of information last Friday and concentrated on getting all of the required petition signatures turned in today.  Candidates will be announced Friday morning.  Monday, there will be a "How to Write a 2 Minute Speech" workshop in Grade 5 from 9:50 to 10:10 am.  (Pretzel snacks will be provided.)  Two minutes speeches are required by each candidate and are scheduled for May 20th and 21st.  Three campaign posters created by candidates may be hung in hallways on Monday as well.  Students should keep in mind that each poster must use blue tape (see Mrs. Wright) for hanging.
Tip:  Heavy posters often fall!  Good luck everyone!  Go Panthers!

3.  TEACHER/STAFF APPRECIATION LUNCHEON:  It was so nice to sit and enjoy a delightful  Hawaiian  luncheon.  Our entire faculty and staff usually eat on the run so this annual, special luncheon is immensely appreciated.  The menu was delicious and the dessert buffet was a big hit.   We want to thank all our parents and grandparents for all their hard work.  It was wonderful!

4.  VISITING AUTHOR:  Christy Raedeke will be visiting Grades 6-8 on Friday, May 21st.  Her debut novel, "Prophecy of Days", can be purchased by completing and returning the enclosed form by May 17th.

5.  LAP-A-THON:  Good news to share!  Our Lap-A-Thon raised $23,556.27 surpassing last year's total..  The students raising at least $200 (each, not per family) received 1 week of free dress (May 17-21) and the top raffle prize winner is Maddison Morgan.  Special thanks to Lisa Sheeper, Maryclair Thomas and the many parent volunteers who helped make this event so successful.

6.  TRACK:  The annual Spirit Fest is this Sunday, May 16 at Chabot College beginning at 10 a.m.  It is the PPSL Championship Meet.  Please help cheer on our Panther Track Team!

7.  VOLLEYBALL:  Last chance to sign up for Volleyball!  All volleyball sign-ups for girls currently in grades 3-7 are due by Friday, May 14.  Tryouts will be held on May 17, 18 and 19 as needed.

8.  WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER:   Heads Up!  We are going electronic!  Our first online Wednesday Newsletter and information will be June 2.  If you do not have access to email, please inform the office so we may send a hard copy home with your child.

9.  LIFETOUCH SPRING PORTRAIT PACKAGES:  Enclosed is a note from Lifetouch.  If you have already sent in your payment for your portraits, thank you.  If not, please do so immediately.

Blessings,
