Ralpheal (Raffaello Sanzio)
1483- 1520
Ralphael was born in 1483 in the town of Urbino. During the Renaissance
he was the youngest of three major artist (Leonardo di Vinci and
Michelangelo). His dad gave him the first lessons about painting.
Urbino (his home town) was a seat of warfare but that
didn't stop him from paintng and following his heart. When
Ralphael turned seven-teen his dad wanted him to be a apprentice so he
sent him to Perugia , under the highly-regarded Perugino. For the years
he spent there he leaned as much as he could with no complains
orproblems.
In his early work his stayed faithful to the Perugino School. He
was much like Perugino that some work was hard to tell who was the
artist, Perguino or young Ralphael. Later in the years he changed his
style after noticing the work of Leonardo and Michelanelo. Bearing a
letter of recomadation from the Duches of Montefeltro to the
gonfalonier Sodeni, Ralphael went to Florenece in 1504. At the age of
21 the intense debating must have made a forceful impression on his
life. During this time Leonarda had come back and finshed Mona Lisa, and Michelangelo had
just finished David.
Mihelangelo had influenced this young painter from Urbino with
his painting. In 1541 Michelangelo said in a letter that "everything he
knew about art he got from me" which he said way after Ralpheal's
death. After Bramante died in 1514 Ralpheal was appointed
St. Peter's architect, he aso was involved with ruins in Rome. He died
on April 6, 1520, Good Friday ( possible his 37 birthday). His
death was cause by a sickness from explicit events.
Some of his most famous works were School of Athens, Ttiumph of
Galatea, The Holy Family, and The vergin with a Veil.Madonna
of the Goldfinch was another great painting Ralpel had created.
