Raphael Sanzio

Biography

Raphael Sanzio was born n April 6,1483. He was raised in Urbino by his mother and father. His father, Giovanni Santi, taught and trained him how to paint. Then Raphael went to Perugia, Umbria in 1499 to learn from a master. He became the apprentice of Perugino who was a painter and taught him lots of things, and Raphael had a similar painting style and paintings like his master. He learned to absorb things taught and some of  the things that affected him.







His Paintings

Raphael painted magnificent Madonnas and he thought the things he painted should be acceptable, not what wold necessarily be true in real life. His Madonnas were influenced when he moved to Florence, and he was also influenced partly by Leonardo. His most known Madonna was called Madonna of the Chair. He also painted portraits of well known or important people to him.


Famous Frescoes in the Vatican Palace
In 1508 Raphael was ordered to paint frescoes  in the Vatican Palace by the pope. He worked with  Michalangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci  worked together to decorate the Palace. Raphael's most famous and magnificent painting was the painting of the Transfiguration. His three room's that Raphael painted used up a lot of his time but he was still able to paint some paintings.

Raphael's Last Paintings and Frescos
His last painting is the Transfiguration of Christ. Some of the last paintings he painted are mostly about religion.
