Titian 

                    Background Information
           Titian Vecelli was a very famous Renaissance artist born around 1490.  He lived in Pievedi Cadore with his parents, Lucia and Gregorio dei Vecelli, and his older brother, Francesco Vecelli.  His family was around he middle class, so tey had a good amout of money and were able to live well.  Titians full name was Tiziano Vecellio.  At age nine, Titian and Francesco went to Venice to study art.  There they stayed at their  uncle's house.  After a while, Titian was tutored by an artist named Gentile Bellini.  Later, he found out that Gentile didn't like his work,so he left to a different tutor, named Giovanni Beilini.   Around 1507, Titian helped a man named  Giorgione, paint frescoes into plaster on the walls and ceilings of Fondaco de' Tedeschi.

             After his wife died while giving birthto their thid child, Lavinia,, in 1530 his work became  more subtle it was not as good as it used to be.  Later, he moved to a mansion witha great veiw of the sea and gardens, and pained many wonderful paintings there, like Charles V.  This made him and his kids very honored.  Titian was influenced by his many tutors, like Bellini and Beilini.



 
                               Accomplishments                                       Titian is famous for many paintings.  Many include The Holy Family with a Shepherd, Bacchus and Ariadne, The Tribute Money, Noli me Tanqere, The Virgin and Child  with Saints, A man with a Quilted Sleeve, The Virgin and Child, The Vendramin Family, Portrait of a Lady ("La Schiavona'), An Allegory of Prudence, and The Death of Actaeon.  Tiziano also drew many scketchings, such as The Jealous Husband, Portrait of a Woman, Studies for the Saint Sebastian in Brescia, and Jupiter and Io.
 
Contribution to the Renaissance
          Titian contributed to the Rennaissance with his amazing use of color.
 It inspired Domenico Theotocopuli, also known as El Greco.  El Greco was
one of Tiziano's students, and much of his art was done with Titian's style. 
Titian also contributed to the Rennaisance by influencing  many  other  artists. 
One of them  is Fra Galgario of  Bergamo; he was a portraitest who kept a
picture, that Titian had painted, by him to always inspire him.  Other artists
 are van Dyck, Frans Hals, and Rubens.



His influence on us today
          Titian has influenced us today by showing us his amazing use of color. 
The color he used was so lively and it made his amazing works come to life.
 They all showed great beauty with deep details.  He is a major influence on
