Background Information

William Shakespeare was born in 1564 in a little country side town known as Stratford.  His mother wasMary Arden; who was a daughter of a landowner.  His father was John shakespeare, who was a butcher.  Shakespeare was the oldest son of  Mary.  In 1568 William`s dad was made mayor of  Stratford.  While in office he was kicked outfor not keeping peace.  In 1596 William restored his family`s position and, earned them  a coat of arms.
Shakespeare attended Stratford Grammer School to learn to read and write.  From 1580 to 1582  he was a teacher for the Roman Catholic family.  When he was fifteen a young woman drouned in a lake nearby.  That was where he got hisinspiration for "Hamlet".   At the age of 18 William found a local town girl by the name of Anne Hathaway; she was eight years older than William.  They had three kids together, Hamnet, Judith, and Susanna.  In 1596 Sahkespeares only son died.
Later on in life Shakespeare left Stratford for a charge of poaching.  He moved over to London and began writting his own plays.  In 1599 "The Globe" was built for his plays. Many people thought of him differently.  Some would say "He was a fantastic writer, his hand and mind went together."  Others would put a negative description of him. For example  "William is a dronken  savage"  or  "He is a complete fool."
Later on he wrote "Romeo and Juliet".  It was based on real lovers that were forbidden to see eachother from the fate of their love.  In 1610 Shakespeare returned to Stratford as a gentleman that drank beer, and co-wrote with others.  Shakespeare died on April 23 ,1616.
There have been rumors from time to time that William Shakespeare did not write all of his plays, but Christopher Marlowe did.
